PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland and Chemeketa settled for a scoreless draw today at the Rock Creek Campus, further tightening the NWAC South playoff race.
The result puts the Panthers at 17 points (5-3-2) in the league standings, tied for 2nd place with Lane CC and four points behind Rogue CC.
The contest versus the Storm was devoid of much attacking play, and the action mostly between the 18 yard lines. Chemeketa did manage to take 18 shots, but many were off target. Panther keeper Aleena Calvert made nine saves to preserve the shutout, though most were fairly routine. One attempt in the 2nd half by Crystal Garcia was a dangerous hit, but Calvert palmed it up and over the crossbar.
PCC was able to get forward for 11 shots, but Chemeketa goalie Alexa Morgan kept everything out of her net as well.
The Panthers will continue their quest for a playoff berth next Friday at home versus league leaders Rogue CC.
