PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland CC played region leaders Rogue CC to a standstill, but surrendered a goal in the final minute of the game to fall 2-1 on sophomore night at the Rock Creek Campus.
Yesenia Gaspar put the host Panthers in the lead with a well taken goal in the 11th minute. It was a needed score, as PCC could muster just two total shots for the match. Jennifer Valencia was credited with the assist.
Portland's defense was organized and steady, but the Ospreys finally broke through in the 62nd minute off the boot of Isabella Bottero.Â
As the game was near full time, PCC looked to settle for the draw but Bottero struck again with her 12th goal of the season.
The result puts the Panthers at 5-4-1 (17 points) in the NWAC South standings, which is tied for 2nd with Lane CC. A win next week at Clackamas with put the team in the playoffs.
Sophomores Karly Murray, Jennifer Valencia, Yesenia Gaspar, and Aleena Calvert all played their final home games for the Panthers.
