Five Panther Women Named NWAC All Stars

VANCOUVER, Wash. - Five Portland CC women's soccer players were named NWAC All Stars for their outstanding play during the 2024 season.

Aleena Calvert was named 1st Team Goalkeeper after a tremendous performance between the pipes for the Panthers. The sophomore allowed just nine goals in 14 games played, and registered six shutouts.

After scoring five goals and passing for one assist, Karly Murray was named 1st Team also. The sophomore anchored the PCC attack from her central midfield position.

Defender Aurora Hammerstedt was named 1st Team as well thanks to her standout play as a central defender. The freshman played and started all 16 games along the backline for PCC.

Players landing on the 2nd Team are Mira Thornton and Tiearra Braithwaite. Thorton was a threat from her forward position, scoring three goals and passing for two assists in 15 games played and leading PCC with 19 total shots. Braithwaite was a mainstay at her outside back position, impressing with her speed and grit during 15 games as a starter. 

The Panthers finished the season with a 6-7-1 record, placing 2nd in the NWAC South and qualifying for the post season for the 3rd time in the program's short history.
