PENDLETON, Ore. - Portland CC traveled to eastern Oregon yesterday to take on Blue Mountain CC, and came home with a 64-58 loss.
The Panthers had just six players in uniform, as several are nursing injuries and unavailable. Portland fought hard despite the adversity, and the outcome was in doubt until the final moments.
PCC trailed by just one point at halftime (33-32) after Tali Sanders hit a three pointer inside 30 seconds to play. Lilly Walker then scored to start the 3rd quarter to give the Panthers the lead.Â
Later in the period, Walker connected again to give her team their final lead of the game at 40-39. BMCC finished the quarter leading 52-46 and would not trail again.
The Panthers kept battling and trailed by just four points (62-58) with 1:05 to play, but two missed shots down the stretch sent the host Timberwolves to the win.
Kaylee Foster scored 15 points to lead PCC, with Walker adding 14 points and 11 rebounds.
