TUKWILA, Wash. - Portland CC men's soccer put forth a spirited effort but dropped their NWAC region opener at Highline College yesterday, 3-1.

After surrendering 15 goals versus two top 10 teams at the NWAC Friendlies, the Panthers displayed an much improved defensive shape and organization versus the Thunderbirds.

The game held at Starfire Complex was tied 1-1 at halftime, with Mohamud Abdikadir scoring his first collegiate goal for PCC in the 17th minute. 

Highline scored the game winner in the 66th minute off the boot of Mykah Harris, 

Portland then began to attack with more purpose, throwing numbers forward in search of the tying goal. Highline managed to absorb the pressure, then tacked on a counter attacking third goal just before the final whistle.

The Panthers will attempt to get their first win of 2024 on Saturday at Centralia College.
