COOS BAY, Ore. - Portland CC had to endure an overtime period for the second straight game, and came out on top again after defeating Southwestern Oregon 73-67.
The Panthers had to shake off a sluggish start as the visitors fell behind 21-12 after one quarter of play. PCC turned up the defense in the second period, cutting the gap down to 32-29 by halftime.
The second half saw Portland do just enough to force an overtime period. Tali Sanders hit a three pointer to give PCC the lead at 65-63 with 2:25 to play, but the Panthers would not score again. Bree Turner tied the game for SWOC with 1:27 to play, then the teams traded misses until the end of regulation.
Lilly Walker led the way for PCC in extra time, scoring five points and grabbing four rebounds. PCC held the host Lakers to a single field goal over the five minutes of action.
Raven Parson had a career game for the Panthers, scoring 25 points on 10 of 21 shooting. Lilly Walker continues her resurgence, this time scoring 21 points and grabbing 16 rebounds.
