Overtime Unkind to PCC at Linn-Benton

ALBANY, Ore. - Portland CC battled Linn-Benton for two halves plus an overtime period, ultimately falling 87-85.

The Panthers looked like the more prepared team after the long holiday break. PCC built a 27-14 lead midway through the first half and showed signs of cruising to a comfortable win.

The host Roadrunners had other plans however, and used a 12-5 run at the end of the period to make the score 36-32 at the break.

The game turned into a seesaw battle, as the teams traded the lead seven times during the second half action. At the end of regulation, Edy Essien made two free throws to give PCC a 75-72 lead with 25 seconds remaining. Liam Spencer hit a clutch three pointer for LBCC with seven seconds on the clock to tie the game, and a game winning attempt from Portland on the final possession missed the mark.

In overtime. both teams found ways to score but Linn-Benton took advantage of three Panther turnovers to creep in front. Daniel James tied the game for PCC at 82-82 with a huge three pointer, but the Roadrunners scored on their next two possessions while the Panthers committed a turnover and could only muster a free throw.
