PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland CC turned a close game at halftime into a comfortable win, defeating Mt. Hood CC 80-57 tonight at Harold Williams Court.
The Panthers led 31-24 at the break, unable to shake loose of a pesky Saint defense. Fortunately the PCC defense was also solid, holding the visitors to 33 percent shooting.
The court opened up for the Panthers in the second half. A few steals in the backcourt led to breakout layups, and 9 offensive rebounds resulted in several second chance opportunities. In all, PCC forced 22 turnovers and scored 18 second chance points.
For the second straight game Daniel James has owned the paint, scoring 20 points and grabbing 22 rebounds. Vashon Hardges was a consistent performer, finishing with 16 points and six rebounds. Jackson Leach is rounding into form after his injury, adding 12 points and five assists.
