MEDFORD, Ore. - Portland returned home from a trip to southern Oregon with a 1-1 draw versus Rogue CC, a team that the Panthers defeated 8-0 earlier in the season.
The host Ospreys took on a defensive posture for this match, and it paid off in the unlikeliest of ways.
The Panthers spent most of their time in the attacking half of the field, generating 15 shots in the first half alone. It was Rogue that poached the first goal however, as Ella Heppner latched onto a long punt from keeper Addison Vranes and finished smartly in the 7th minute.
Melanie Alcantar Lopez finally provided the equalizer for the Panthers, getting the ball across the line in the 24th minute.
Portland had all 45 minutes of the second half to find a game winning effort, but despite 11 more shots and six corner kicks, could not break through.
PCC ended with 26 total shots and 15 corner kicks compared to 2 shots and 1 corner kick for the hosts, further cementing the disparity on the field but not on the scoreboard.
