Panthers Fall in OT at Centralia

CENTRALIA, Wash. - Portland rallied back from a big deficit to tie the game at the end of regulation but ultimately fell in overtime at Centralia College, 87-84.

The Panthers struggled to get going and found themselves trailing by as many as 19 points (29-10) in the first half. PCC found a spark in Claudia Arellano, who scored seven straight points to start a game-long comeback.

The rally culminated with a Bregan Rhuland layup that gave the visitors their first lead of the game at 77-76. Abbie Scharringhausen added another basket in the closing minute, but the Trailbalzers' Jazlyn Corpuz sent the game to overtime with a three pointer.

In the extra period, Centralia made the plays they needed to inch in front. Centralia went 4 of 4 from the free throw line to help their cause, and baskets from Arellano and Ruhland were not enough to push PCC over the top.

Kamakila Waiwaiole was once again the top scorer for Portland, pouring in a new season high of 31 points. Ruhland also added a season high total of 24 points. Arellano finished with 15 points, while Scharringhausen scored nine and grabbed 13 rebounds.
