PORTLAND, Ore. - Kaylee Foster exploded for 26 points in the first half, leading Portland to a win over Southwestern Oregon today inside Cascade Gym.
The sophomore made seven three pointers before halftime, setting a PCC record. Her final tally of 28 points is a career high for the guard from Oregon City.
The sharpshooting by Foster was needed, as the Panthers as a team made just 33 percent of their shots in the first half. Foster ended up with 26 of PCC's 34 first half points.
The scoring became much more balanced after the break. Amelia Echternkamp came alive in the second half, scoring all 17 of her points in the 3rd and 4th quarters. BettyAnn Wilson (14) and Lilly Walker (14) also finished in double figures.
Portland's defense remained consistent for the game, holding the visiting Lakers to 27 percent shooting (20 of 74).
The result keeps Portland in the hunt for a playoff spot at 7-6 in region play.
