ROSEBURG, Ore. - Portland CC fell to the NWAC's #2 ranked team today on the road, as Umpqua CC outscored PCC 88-57.
The Panthers were plagues by a slow start, making just three field goals in the 1st quarter. The 2nd quarter provided a bit of hope, as Portland outscored the Riverhawks 18-16 over the 10 minutes of action to make the score 37-26 at halftime.
Umpqua took control in the 3rd quarter with a 29 point performance behind 50 percent shooting and eight made free throws in nine attempts. PCC tried to keep pace but six turnovers hurt the cause.
The two teams played out the 4th quarter with the outcome decided, and late three pointers from Kaylee Foster and Tali Sanders gave Portland some solace heading into their last game of the season next week at Clackamas.
Amelia Echternkamp had a good second half, finishing with 20 points. BettyAnn Wilson just missed out on another double-double with nine points and 12 rebounds.
