PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland CC put eight goals past Rogue CC today at the Rock Creek Campus, scoring four in each half to open NWAC South Region play
The visiting Ospreys were up against it from the opening kickoff as they were only able to muster 10 players for the contest.Â
PCC wasted no time getting on the board, as Kayla Vera found space in front of net and converted just 22 seconds into the game. The Panthers scored three more in quick succession - two from Aurora Hammerstedt - and led 4-0 with just nine minutes ticked off the clock.
Rogue settled into the game and kept the Panthers at bay for the rest of the half.
Fatigue and the elevated temperature took its toll in the second half, with PCC finding the net another four times before the final whistle. Vera scored her second goal, and Joselyn De Los Santos scored a brace as well.
Rogue goalkeeper Addison Vranes gave a valiant effort for the game, making 13 saves and coming off her line to intervene on several occasions.
