PORTLAND, Ore. - PCC dropped points at home versus a vastly improved Umpqua CC team today at the Rock Creek Campus, 2-0.

It was the first loss of the season for the Panthers, and the sole blemish on the schedule in NWAC South play.

Portland had a difficult time finding their groove in the first period, with the visiting Riverhawks winning the ball in their own half then using their speed to counter attack. Ginne Saavedra caught the PCC defense flat footed and found the far post from a tough angle in the 15th minute.

UCC tacked on a second just five minutes into the second half, this time Katrina Beltran tapped in a deflected pass from close range. 

The Panthers looked more like themselves from that point, registering five shots and four corner kicks. No breakthrough was found however, and Umpqua celebrated the upset win.

PCC will try to get back into the win column this Saturday versus Rogue in Grants Pass.
