PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland CC earned their first NWAC South Region win of the season with a 60-48 win over Southwestern Oregon today at the Cascade Campus.

The Panther defense was stubborn all game, but made their hay in the 2nd quarter. Holding the Lakers to just one field goal over the 10 minutes of action, PCC turned a 12-12 tie after one quarter to a 27-15 halftime lead. 

Portland stayed consistent throughout the second half, leading by as much as 18 points in the 3rd quarter (43-25) and were looking for more.

SWOC made their expected run in the 4th quarter, applying some full court pressure the helped cut the gap down to 10 points on two occasions. The Panthers did not panic however, and converted some key field goals while making 9 of 12 free throws in the period. 

Kamakila Waiwaiole was the linchpin, scoring 16 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Bregan Ruhland (14) and Emily Henderson (10) also hit double figures. Udoka Amadi was a defesnive force off the bench, grabbing six rebounds and blocking four shots.
