PORTLAND, Ore. - PCC men's basketball bagged their second win in a row to keep their slim playoff hopes alive, this time with a 83-76 victory over region leaders Umpqua.
Luke Jessup poured in a season high 28 points to pace the Panthers, and the freshman filled out his stat line with nine rebounds, four blocks, and three steals.
After a pedestrian effort in the first half that resulted in PCC trailing 43-38 at the break, the Panthers completed their comeback thanks to 49 percent shooting while holding the Riverhawks to a 33 percent performance.
A defining stat for the a game was free throw shooting. Portland made all 20 of their attempts - a season best mark - while UCC managed just 5 of 9.
In addition to Jessup's heroics, Jackson Leach scored 24 points and passed for 10 assists.
The Panthers are now two games back of 4th place Lane with three games to play.
