PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland CC men put on a clinic from the three point line on the way to a 86-64 win over Chemeketa on sophomore night.
The Panthers made 16 of 27 shots from behind the arc -Â by far a season best mark - to pull away from the visiting Storm in the second half.
Mekhi Muhammad (5 of 5) and Jaxson Spafford (6 of 8) did most of the damage, with Spafford hitting five in the second half to lead the PCC surge.
After building a 37-29 halftime lead, the Panther advantage reached a high water mark of 31 (75-44) thanks to the barrage of long distance accuracy. Chemeketa had no response, shooting just 1 of 13 from the arc. Kaden Holm worked inside for 13 second half points for Chemeketa but it was not enough to stem the tide.
Jackson Leach hit a trio of treys that helped him to a team high 26 points, while also passing for 10 assists.
Despite the result, Portland was eliminated from playoff contention due to Lane defeating Linn-Benton.
