Carl Appleton - Recipient of the Carl Appleton Award for Outstanding Perseverance

This award is reserved for those individuals who have taken advantage of a second chance academically and socially while attending Portland Community College. Carl Appleton overcame numerous obstacles, including homelessness, to achieve significant success as a member of the PCC basketball team. Appleton played basketball for the Panthers from 2012-2014 and was one of the top performers on the Panthers 2013-14 NWAACC championship team.Appleton went on to an outstanding career as a dual sport student-athlete competing in both basketball and football at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, all the while earning a bachelor's degree in Sociology. Currently, Appleton is currently pursuing a graduate degree in Forensics at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. This award will continue to be known as the Carl Appleton Award in his honor.
