Panthers Win On Day Two of Invite

PORTLAND, Ore. - PCC women's basketball picked up another win yesterday at the Harold Williams Invite, this time over Olympic 66-50.

While the winning margin proved to be comfortable, Olympic made it difficult for the Panthers in the first half. The Rangers play a high pressure style defense that forced 11 first half turnovers and disrupted the PCC offense.

After coach Graham McFall made some halftime adjustments, Portland turned a three point deficit (32-29) into 53-40 advantage during the 3rd quarter action. Kristen Martin came off the bench and hit three shots from behind the arc to spark the Panther's offensive burst.

In the 4th quarter it was the defense that carried PCC to the win, forcing eight turnovers and holding OC to just four field goals.

Cara Dinneen led PCC with 14 points on 6 of 9 shooting. Ellie Haas added 13 points. Cheyann Ashworth is proving to be a force in the paint, contributing seven points and 11 rebounds.

Portland will wrap up the Harold Williams Invite versus Wenatchee Valley today at 3pm.
