PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland Community College Athletics welcomes Shawn Bundy as head coach of the Panther Women's Soccer program.
Bundy is a veteran coach and educator in the Portland area, with 20 years of experience as a player, teacher, and coach. His most recent appointment was at Cleveland High School as an assistant coach for the Warrior girl's soccer program (2022), helping the team make the quarterfinals of the OSAA State Championships.
"We are so pleased to have Shawn Bundy as our new head women's soccer coach," said PCC athletic director Tony Broadous. "He is an educator at heart, and incorporates that into his coaching and relationship building. Shawn is ready to take on the challenge of a community college program, and create a great atmosphere for our student-athletes."
His head coaching experience includes stints at Ida B. Wells (Wilson) High School (2016-18), Reynolds High School (2012-15), and Philomath High School (boys, 2006-10). He was named PIL Coach of the Year, and Oregon Large Public HS Coach of the Year by United Soccer Coaches in 2018.
Bundy is currently the United Soccer Coaches Girls HS All-American Region Chair. In addition, he has many coaching certifications from the United Soccer Coaches including an Advanced National diploma (level B) and special diplomas in Urban Soccer Coaching and Building Team Culture.
As a player, Shawn was a four year starting collegiate goalkeeper at Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania and Hamline University in Minnesota, where he was named MVP in his senior year.
"I'm really excited to lead the women's soccer program at PCC with my growth minded coaching philosophy," said Bundy. "I think that PCC offers exceptional value to its students with many educational paths and career training opportunities and I look forward to recruiting and developing student athletes who enjoy working hard to improve, both on and off the soccer pitch."
